About McAnaraks

Buttons by McAnaraks are made by Fran Harkes and Steve Cormack in our workshop near Inverness in the Highlands of Scotland. Fran does the arty bits and Steve does the technical stuff.

Steve has used resin since 1989 to make dice which he sells at www.highland-games.co.uk. When he began making large buttons for Fran's McAnaraks range of clothing, people often asked "where do you get your buttons, can I buy some?" but Fran jealously guarded them for her own use.

However in 2007, Fran got involved in making the buttons and we decided to develop a range for sale to the public and to shops.
We sell them at craft fairs, various wool and gift shops in the UK, and now here online.

We know how much people who love buttons love buttons, and we love making them.

ABOUT THE BUTTONS

The buttons are made from resin which is poured into moulds and left to set. Using resin  means the buttons can be thin and still be strong.
Each button is decorated and poured by hand so there will be variations in them, which of course adds to the charm of a handmade product.
Some of the buttons have been decorated with glitter, and this will not rub off as it is embedded into the resin.

The buttons may differ slightly from the photos as it is hard to replicate colours and glitter. If you order a matching set of buttons we shall do our best to make sure they match each other.

The buttons are machine washable.
