Hello, long time no blog!
Tomorrow is the start of The 100 Day Project 2023 and at the last minute I’ve decided to take part .
I didn’t do it last year but I have done in previous years.

In 2018 I staged some photos of my buttons, brooches, bits and bobs, you can see them here
In 2019 I went to the opposite extreme and organised an epic project that spawned 9 blog posts, which you can read here .
In 2020 I made 25 brooches , you can read about them here

In 2021 I drew 100 faces, you can read about it here

This year I’m going to make 100 5×5 inch collages.
I might use paint, pen, fabric, paper, or anything else I choose, so I’m keeping it quite vague.
I’m not committing to posting every day, and I’m not committing to finishing it in 100 days, no-one said the 100 days need to be consecutive now, did they!
I’ve got mountains of fabric scraps and a pile of prints I’ve made using my new favourite thing – a gelli plate 🙂
I’ll do another blogpost about my gelli plate printing, I keep forgetting to take photos during a session, it’s that exciting!

18/3/23
Today is day 25, we’re quarter way there, so far I haven’t missed posting a photo every day.
I reserve the right to do so in the future, though 🙂
I’ve been using my gelli plate prints, melted tyvek, fabric, and some precious scraps of Indian embroidery which were left over from decorating this denim skirt for a customer.

So here are days 1-25/100, click on each one to get a bigger view.

.

I just spent a very enjoyable couple of hours preparing some more Tyvek
(yes the house building stuff), I painted it with acrylic paint and ink.

I then melted it with an iron over a texture mat , in a well ventilated shed,
whilst wearing a fume mask as protection from the toxic fumes.

I then added metallic foil to the backs of some pieces.

Look out for these bits coming to a collage near you soon! *

*Terms and conditions :No guarantee of 100 collages on 100 consecutive days.

The idea for melting the Tyvek over a textile plate can be traced back to Maggie Grey,
you can see it here

  1. Looks like you have some wonderful stuff to play with. I will anxious to see what you create with it. I will start collaging as soon as I am done with the SAQA 100 day fabric project I am a part of. today is day 62 0f that challenge. I find having a dead line really keeps me going.
    Keep Creating
    Carol

    1. Well done, 62/100 is quite an achievment, keep up the good work!

  2. Hi Fran. You have customised several pieces for me over the past years. I have a very old suede jacket/shirt which needs some TLC. Would it be suitable for your upscaling – it is brown and unlined?
What do you think? Kindest Regards, Mary Kerr (Lincolnshire)

    1. Hi Mary, I’ve sent you 2 emails, did you get them?
